Children & Youth

Young people are the heart of our church and indicate a vibrant, nurturing faith community! We love having children & youth of all ages join us for worship. We offer activity packets before worship for young people to enjoy during the first part of the service.

Children from pre-kindergarten age through 5th grade are invited to Sunday School after the children’s moment at the 10:30 a.m. service. Older youth, from 6th through 12th grades, are invited to First Light, which meets on Sunday evenings.

Sunday School

PreK-5th grade children are invited to join us for Sunday School during the 10:30 a.m. worship service, as we learn about God’s ways through Bible stories, discussions, games, and crafts. The children begin worship in the Sanctuary and come forward to sit with the Pastor on the chancel steps for the Children’s Moment. After the Children’s Moment, the Sunday School teacher will be waiting on the side to walk the children to Sunday School. Parents may pick up their children at their classroom in the Education wing of First Presbyterian Church. We ask that all parents/guardians pre-register their children before attending Sunday School. All volunteers submit to background checks, attend child abuse prevention training, and follow the policies of First Presbyterian Church.

Infant & Toddler Childcare

First Presbyterian Church is a welcoming community and children are a gift to us! We have a private lounge for nursing mothers and will resume childcare for all worship times once the threat of Covid-19 has been contained. We welcome the sounds and stirrings of children in worship. They are a gift!

First Light Youth Group

First Light Youth Group meets on Sunday nights from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. for students from 6th to 12th grade. Please register to join the email list that includes the monthly schedule and reminders.  Most meetings are held in the youth rooms at the end of the hall in the education wing of First Presbyterian Church. Occasionally, gatherings are held in alternate locations for outdoor activities. Parents/guardians must register youth participants for First Light.
